HYPNOTHERAPIST

“Our clients' problem is that they have lost rapport with their unconscious mind. Our job is to help restore that relationship.”

HYPNOSIS

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?

The hypnotic experience is different for everyone. Some may feel like they do just before falling asleep at night, warm, cozy and safe in bed. For others it's like unwinding with a good piece of music. In general it can be said, though, that the hypnotic state helps relax and provide better access to hidden resources, and therefore eventually to the self. The above described "rapport with the unconscious mind" can thus be restored. It opens up to imagery, ideas and suggestions that have beforehand been discussed with the therapist. The client is active part of this process. Contrary to common belief he is neither will-less, nor does he sleep. In fact, the opposite is true: By focussing on the voice of the therapist, the client will carefully take in every word that is said and only adopt those suggestions that are in tune with the convictions of his subconscious mind. Even when hypnotised the client will still be able to talk, laugh, cough, cry and even lie -- if he wants to.

Overall most clients experience hypnosis as very pleasant and relaxing.

HOW CAN HYPNOSIS HELP ME?

Hypnosis has a wide field of application. It can be used for classic suggestion hypnosis, for behavioural therapy, for coaching and even for psychoanalysis. The scope, therefore, is large. It is known to yield particularly good results for issues like:

  • Phobias

  • Fears

  • Smoking cessation

  • Weight management

  • Motor disorders (tics, stutter)

WHO HIS HYPNOSIS FOR?

Contrary to common belief the number of people who cannot be hypnotised is negligible. If you can picture your favourite meal on a plate, then your imagination is good enough to go into trance. Kids therefore do particularly well with hypnosis.

However, hypnotherapy is not the therapy of choice for clients who have experienced psychotic episodes or have issues with drug abuse. Pregnant women are also advised to refrain from hypnosis as the state of relaxation may cause contractions.

HOW LONG IS A HYPNOSIS THERAPY?

Hypnosis allows for relatively quick improvements. Therefore a setting of 3-4 sessions serves as a good starting point. In case additional issues come up in the process, therapy can be extended individually.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A HYPNOSIS SESSION?

During the first session, which lasts about 90 - 120 minutes we conduct an extensive interview, set your personal goals and let you experience a short trance in order to get a feeling for what hypnosis is like.

During subsequent sessions we will continue our work based on the goals set during the initial session.
